Scholar and philosopher, Dr. Cornel West has called him "A vanilla brother in the tradition of (abolitionist) John Brown".
You probably have heard him on CNN or MSNBC, or heard of his books, most recent being, Culture of Cruelty: How America's Elite Demonize the Poor, Valorize the Rich and Jeopardize the Future.
If you haven't you will now. He is Tim Wise, and he joined us some time ago at a conference where I helped manage their marketing and communications. The theme of the conference was higher education and access. Access for students for those in under served populations. So for those of you who don't know, he just stepped off stage for the keynote and we got a chance to unpack some of the ideas he shared about social equality, power systems, and higher education.
While this isn't a politically neutral interview, it is one where we dive into race, education, and equality after spending some time on his background and formative years.
